Monster card
This card can say Happy Birthday (as shown above) or Celebrate Baby (as shown below) or any combination of those greetings (for instance Happy Baby). To make this card you will need the following Stampin' Up! supplies:
Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, and Tempting Turquoise from the Brights collection of card stock and Whisper White card stock
Daffordil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Tempting Turquoise ink pads from the Brights Classic Stampin' Pads collection
Celebrate Today stamp set and Size D and H clear blocks
Step 1: Take an A4 sheet of Whisper White card stock and cut it in half so that you get a piece of card that is 14.8 cm x 21 cm. Score the card stock half way along the long side, so at 10.5cm, so that you can neatly folder this card stock in half to create the base of your card. Be careful not to accidentally use the cutting blade, make sure you use the lighter coloured scoring blade. This will be 14.8cm x 10.5cm.
Step 2: Choose the four colours that you are going to use for this card. You will need four scrap pieces of that colour card, approximately two inches or 5 cms square. Cut out four different coloured owl bodies using your Owl Builder Punch. The easiest way I find to cut out he monster bodies is to face the bottom, or metal side of the punch towards me so that I can see where the card stock is in the punch. You don't need to punch out all of the options and waste card stock, you just need a body.
Step 3: I used a scrap of white card to cut out the eyes for all of them, again facing the metal part of the Builder Owl Punch towards me so that I could see what I was doing and just cut out the eyes. You could use any size you like, or even different sizes on the one monster.
Step 4: In order to make the feet for the yellow (Daffodil Delight) monster, I used the edge of the card stock I had just used to cut out the body, and I cut a small part from his head nearly 1 cm wide, so that I had enough of an edge to stick it to the monster. I then used a pair of scissors to cut the feet off of the yellow body. I drew the pupils onto his eyes, and the face onto the body before trying to stick all the parts together as I find this easier. I used liquid glue to stick the feet on so that the edge was behind the monster. I then stuck on the eyes.
Step 5: In order to make the red monster (Real Red) turn him upside down. Use a scrap of red to cut out two medium sized circles or eyes from the punch. Draw a mouth on the body, and pupil/s on the eye/s. Use your liquid glue to stick the red circles on top of the 'feet' of the body (but of course the body is now upside down), and to stick the eye/s onto the body.
Step 6: To make the blue monster (Temping Turquoise) I punched out two medium circles while I was punching out his body. If you didn't do that, or your scrap of card wasn't big enough, just use another scrap and punch out two medium circles. I then punched out two medium circles with white scrap. I cut one blue circle in half with my scissors, and drew the pupils on the white circles and the mouth on the body.
Step 7: Choose your greeting, there are four options in this particular stamp set or you could use another greeting. You also need to choose whether you want to say, for instance, Celebrate Baby, or Happy Baby! Stamp your greeting onto some white card stock using the Old Olive ink pad. Trim the white card stock after you have stamped your greeting, and then your greeting will be centred. Trim a piece of Old Olive card stock so that it is about 1cm bigger than the greeting all the way around. If you like, drag the corners of the greeting and the backing card over the Old Olive ink pad to give the edges a bit more definition. Use one of the stamps from the Celebrate today kit to stamp the Old Olive card with Old Olive ink, I used the string of triangles here.
Step 8: Stamp the back ground of your card. I used five different stamps, including the bow, for this, but you could just use the same stamps or two stamps (say the circles and the triangles) across the five different colours. It is really up to you.
Step 9: Arrange your greeting and your four monsters on the card, once you have them in an order you would like use the liquid glue to stick them down.
