Which ink and card stock do I buy?

They say that to make a card you only need ink, card stock and a stamp. I would say you also need a punch but I am a bit of a punch addict.

In Color Collections

Those who follow my blog or listen to me talk about Stampin' Up! know that I love this colour collection, and one of the reason is it has a good selection of colours and is a good place to start. For $40 you could buy the Stampin' Write markers and also a pack of coordinating card stock, the Stampin' Write markers double as excellent textas for colouring in but also you can use them to ink your stamps.

In your card stock pack you will get four sheets of each of the five colours, you could use that as the base for 40 cards if they are 4" x 6", and if you make some 4" x 4" cards you will also have enough card stock left over for accents.

You can also get the 2017-2019 colours for the same price.

I erronously told a customer today that this was the cheapest way to get card stock and ink when you are starting out, and then I realised that I was wrong. The cheapest way is with Stampin' Spots, how could I forget as they form part of my beloved Tutti Frutti Suite.

Stampin' Spots

Stampin' spots are just little ink pads, which is good if you want some of a colour but not alot (or if you are starting out and don't know what you want yet).

The Tutti Frutti Suite and the Picture Perfect Suite both have Stampin' Spots.

In the Tutti Frutti Suite the card stock and the ink are not the same colour, Soft Suede ink is much easier to use than white ink. You can check out the Tutti Frutti Suite here but the Stampin' Spots are $15.75 and you will get these four little ink pads, and the card stock is still $14.00 only this time you get five sheets of each of the four colours. So this set is $29.75 instead of $40.

In the Picture Perfect Party Suite (which you can look at here) you get the same cost but different colours, so it really depends on your preference.

You get more colour options in the Tutti Frutti card stock pack, but the colours in the Picture Perfect Suite are probably more popular. You might notices that both sets have a darker ink (the brown in one and the purple in the other) which makes it easier to stamp greetings, particularly for beginners.

Both of these sets also have gorgeous matching designer series paper, which is just Stampin' speak for pretty paper that makes it so much easier and quicker to put together your projects. For both of these Suites the DSP is $17.50 for 48 sheets of 6"x 6" so again these Suites are a good place to start.

However don't forget that Stampin' Write markers have the double benefit of being used either for colouring in or writing a message inside of the card in coordinating colours. If you like colouring in then that is definitely the way to go.

Of course, if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.
