Unsung Hero - Silicone Craft Sheet

This is another favourite of mine that I think people don't understand.

The Silicone Craft Sheet is only $10 and you will use it for so much. Lets start with the purpose that the Stampin' Up! site points out.

Glue directly onto the sheet

As it is silicone it is non stick. So you could put a dot of glue on the sheet and then put a small embellishment on top of it to pick up the glue. Then you could peel the embellishment off and the adhesive will stick to the embellishment, not the silicone sheet.

Stamp on it

Ink does stick either. You could stamp an image onto it, and then put your card stock onto it in order to get a mirror image of your stamp. Have a look at the post by Stampin' Up! about this.

Use as a weight

If you are sticking down something fiddly and you want it to dry flat, then you can simply lay your silicone sheet over the top of your project. Sometimes images cut out using your Big Shot or Framelits can be quite thin and so you want to hold them flat. You can even put a book on top of the silicone, it won't stick to your card or the book.

Using adhesive on fiddly bits

If you are using adhesive, particularly snail adhesive, on something that is fiddly them sometimes the adhesive can stick to your craft and whatever is behind your craft. This means your craft is stuck to the table, or a piece of paper, or whatever.

If you have the silicone mat underneath when you use your adhesive, then you will always be able to peel it off.

Use when water colouring

You could water colour directly onto your silicone mat using your Aqua Painter, and then lay your card stock over the top. This is another version of colour blending or the 'smoosh' technique. I usually use clear blocks but if you don't have a large clear block then this is a great alternative.
