Using your Big Shot to emboss or cut

Embossing your card

This is how you use one of your textured impressions embossing folders to put an impression into your card stock. You do this by making a 'sandwich' on top of your multipurpose platform.

  • Start with your multipurpose platform sitting on the table in front of you, with the writing the right way up.

  • Move both tabs 1 and 2 to the left, so that you are looking at the hard plastic base and there are no numbered tabs to the right of the base.

  • Put one of your clear cutting matts on top of this platform.

  • Open your embossing folder, put the card inside the embossing folder, and close the embossing folder.

  • Put the embossing folder on top of the clear cutting matt that is already on top of the platform.

  • Put the last clear cutting matt on top.

  • Holding the sandwich together, feed it into one side of the Big Shot, and turn the handle until the whole sandwich comes through the other side.

  • If it is quite difficult or too easy, something is wrong. Your sandwich is either too thick or too thin. Go through the steps above again.

Cutting your card

This is how you use your framelits dies to cut your card stock. As with embossing, you do this by making a 'sandwich'on top of your multipurpose platform.

  • Start with your multipurpose platform sitting on the table in front of you, with the writing the right way up.

  • For Framelits Dies you have all of the tabs together and to the right, so you should be looking at the tab on the platform that has a 2 on the right hand side, and that says Framelits on the right hand side.

  • Put one of your clear cutting matts on top of this platform.

  • Put your piece of card on top of the clear cutting matt.

  • Put your Die on top of the card stock where you want to cut.

  • Put the other clear cutting matt on top.

  • Holding the sandwich together, feed it into one side of the Big Shot and turn the handle until the whole sandwich comes through the other side.

  • If it is quite difficult or too easy, something is wrong. Your sandwich is either too thick or too thin. Go through the steps above again.

  • If the sandwich goes through, but doesn't cut, you may have your framelits die upside down.
