Sheltering Tree Card
I really love the sheltering tree stamp set because it is versatile. It isn't a 'feminine' set, not in the sense that it is masculine but just in the sense that it can be used for anything. This card however is a bit 'feminine' because it is a card designed for either Valentine's Day or Mothers Day.
Ingredients
To make this card you will need:
Real red and whisper white card stock
Sheltering Tree stamp set
Real red, pumpkin pie, daffodil delight and rich razzleberry ink pads
Adhesive
Stampin' Trimmer
Stampin' Pierce Mat
Size E and H clear blocks
Step 1 - Trim your card stock
You will need a 15cm x 10.5cm piece of real red card stock (which is half an A4 sheet), a 10.5cm x 4.5cm piece of real red card stock.
You will need a 13.5cm x 9.5cm piece of whisper white card stock and a 10cm x 4cm piece of whisper white card stock.
Step 2 - Stamp your tree trunk
Line up the two pieces of whisper white card stock to be where you want them on the finished card. Use the Stampin' Pierce Mat underneath to get a clean image.
Using the rich razzleberry (purple) ink, ink up your tree trunk. Stamp the image while the smaller piece of card stock is on top of the larger piece. There will be a small gap in the stamped image created by one piece of card being on top of the other but remember, there will be a piece of red card between them, you won't see the gap.
While you have your purple ink pad out, stamp your greeting.
Step 3 - Stamp your leaves
Remember you want to stamp leaves on the thin slice of white card stock, not the big piece.
Put a piece of scrap paper under your white card stock so that you don't get ink on the Stampin' Pierce Mat, because then the next piece of card stock will get ink on it.
Start with the palest colour first, and stamp yellow, then orange, then red leaves. You might like to flip the stamp upside down each time to get the leaves in a slightly different place. You also might like to stamp off some of the orange and red ink first because both colours are quite dark. The middle image below shows the difference between full ink orange, and a second stamp with the orange ink.
Step 4 - Stick your card together
I recommend using liquid glue, so you can shimmy the pieces around until they match up. Remember, if you use too much glue you will get crumpled bits or bleeding ink, you don't need a lot of the Tombo glue.
