How to put together your clear mount stamps

Have you just received some clear mount stamps and you are excited to use them?

First tip

My first tip is, you actually don't need to do anything to put them together. Don't stick the stickers onto the back of them, I find that they stick better to their clear blocks without them. Take for instance the Crafting Forever stamp set in the new catalogue.

You can just stick it straight to your clear block as is, as shown in this picture.

If you have already stuck your stickers to the back of your clear mount stamp then that is fine, they will still work and if they don't then you should contact your demonstrator immediately so that she can organise a replacement.

The second reason that you shouldn't put your stickers on the back of your stamps is they are great for masking.

Masking stamps

What is masking you might ask?

This is where you give a layered look to your image without having to 'fussy cut' each individual image.

You can either use the stickers that came with your clear mount stamps, and peel back just a little bit of the backing paper to stick it over the image once you have stamped it, or you can stamp and image and fussy cut it once and save that for the purpose of masking.

I have then cut out the whole image (the seventh picture) after I coloured it in, and stuck it on the card so that there is a different coloured back ground.

What does clear mount stamp mean?

The Stampin Up stamps have three different options, photopolymer, clear mount and wood mount. I will share with you the explanation from our Stampin Up website.

I personally prefer the wood mount stamps because they come with a life time warranty, they are easier for little people or people with limited dexterity to use, and they are harder to lose. Much like adhesive though, everyone has their preference. Most stamps aren't available in three different formats, some are only available in photopolymer because they need to be that way to use, others you can choose between the two rubber options.
